I'm trying to decide on what brand piston to use in my panhead as a stock replacment.

I narrowed it down to n.o.s or S&S, any suggestions?

    Rick -

I like them both. S&S is quite a bit heavier, though. If you are going through the bottom end, and can touch up the balance, I prefer S&S for serious long distance road machine pistons. If, however, you are not going into the bottom end, go with the OEM (or some of the same weight). No balance issues. If you go through the complete range of OEM pistons, from standard to their largest recommended oversize, you will not affect the engine balance. You can feel the difference in weight, between the S&S and the OEM, just in your hands.

    Just something for thought.
