    Question about fittment of hollow axles:

    Per manual

    "3. Replace bearings, tapered end toward the hub.

    4. Slide the hollow axle through."

    However I find my hollow axles will not 'slide' through.

    Do hollow axles need to be pressed through the bearings?

    Do hollow axles need to be turned down for a 'slide through' fit?

    Thank You.

    The hollow axle should slide through, they should not need to be turned down or pressed on. Check for burrs on the hollow axle or you have the wrong bearing or hollow axle.

      Thanks Rusty; I should have thought of that! Will break out the calipers: Geers shows proper hollow axle for 741 as 0.46". I think mine are larger.
      Will check. Thanks again!

        That dimension .0446 is the ID the OD of the hollow axle should be .750

          Thanks again Rusty;
          I remeasured and seems I do have the correct hollow axle.
          I thought I had cleaned it good but apparently not.
          Spent a few more minutes polishing off surface rust and VIOLA!!! S-L-I-D-E-S right in!!!!!!
