  • Bear Mountain Chapter Swap Meet

    The Bear Mountain Chapter Swap Meet on Sept. 13th. is happening. It is located in Pine Island N.Y. at 16 Legion Lane, Pine Island, N.Y. 10969 at the Polish Legion of American Veterans. We have a few vendor spots left but are going fast as this is the ONLY swap meet anywhere close to NYC. Contact Eddie at Unique Cycles at 973-728 0006 for info. It is located approx. 15-20 minutes off either Interstate 84 or 87 or the future 86 which is 6-17. N.Y. state requirements for the virus issue will be enforced. Masks, social distancing, sanitizing stations, etc. Indoor and outdoor refreshments, excellent food trucks with local farm suppliers, pristine grounds, excellent riding areas with little traffic. There is local camping at Black Bear Campgrounds located about 5-6 miles away, 197 Wheeler Road, Florida, N.Y. 845-651-7717

    We can handle about 60 vendors. We usually have about 700 attendees and seems to grow every year. If you plan on vending the people that BUY are looking for reasonable priced items. If your stock is pristine multi hundred or thousand dollar items this may not be the place to vend. If you want to purchase items this is surely the place to be as the prices are more than fair. I know more than a few members here have attended this little known meet and may be keeping the secret to themselves but the word gets out and that seems to be the reason why every year it grows and grows.

    Hope to see some old friends there.

    The Bear Mountain Chapter Swap Meet IS being held Sunday Sept. 13th and we will be following the N.Y. State requirements for outdoor events. We ask anyone who plans to attend to "Bear" with us and cooperate with these requirements. We do not want to get shut down. As of now the regulations are, but not limited to, the following;

    1. Wear a mask. This IS mandatory. The Board of Health will be there as they are every year to check the food trucks out as far as licensing etc. THEY HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO SHUT US DOWN!! We think they will be making a few lookie-sees as the day goes on. We will have masks available at the meet. Please bring your own.

    2. Keep your distance as best as possible. Believe it or not, this includes parking.

    3. Use sanitizing stations. There will be multiple stations set up through-out the meet.

    4. If you get food or drink you MUST sit at a table to consume. Our membership will be there to wipe down and sanitize your area after you get up and leave. The covered pavilion has a capacity of 50 people as per regulations.

    5. "KING" Andy says "No Dancing".

    6. Please use trash cans for refuse. The grounds are pristine and we appreciate the P.L.A.V. in allowing our chapter to utilize their facilities.

    If you need help in any aspect, just see one of our members. They will have a STAFF T-shirt on. We ask attendees help in following these regulations as best as we can. Since there has not been anything going on in our area at all, we expect even if the weather is not the greatest, a large turn-out. We also ask that everyone do their part in helping out to make sure we do not get shut down. I know it sounds like alot but it really isn't that bad in order to be able to enjoy one of the only swap meets this year.

    If you plan on vending or need more information please call Eddie at Unique Cycles at 973-728-0006. We will be there starting at 6 am. Sunday morning.

          Yes, and we have gotten double the amount of pre-paid vendors than ever before. We have the ability to increase the size of the vending area to accommodate the non pre-paid vendors. We have gotten calls from as far as the Carolinas, Ohio, and north to Maine. The weather looks good thru-out the day. Should be interesting to say the least. We have excellent food vendors, live music, 2 locations for refreshments and by the way, GREAT prices on parts. If you need to camp, the Black Bear Campground is only a few miles away in Florida, N.Y. as there is no camping on site.

                    Happy for the comments. Even with the NY restrictions it ran like a well oiled machine thanks to all the members of the Club. I also want to thank all the vendors that came as with no vendors, no meet. We went from a normal 35 vendors to over 60.

                      Congrats on your successful meet. Chesapeake Chapter National Meet is still on for October 2-3 and we have been following how things went for you all. We have not received final approval from Baltimore County Maryland on our request for an outdoor event permit yet so thats a little nerve tweaking. Maryland's COVID positivity numbers are declining so that is a promising indicator. It was good to see some of your requirements under the NY Health authority for you event. Thanks for putting that out there.
