tell me about this exhaust

i copied this picture form Junior Combs' instagram page. what is the story with this exhaust? who made them, were there several variations or just one, and is anyone re-popping them? thanks.

Several variations exist. H-D made a version first in the early '30s (1934 VL) and then revived the style for some Police bikes in '39. Then it disappeared until post war when the aftermarket guys started selling them (Superior) and with that resurgence H-D began selling both a muffler and a bolt on tailpiece. A few years back all the old Superior stuff was being sold and they were around primarily in that black but they exist in chrome too. Here is a factory H-D '50s era one.

That looks like a 34 VL muffler and yes they are being reproduced. Replicant metals has them.
