  • greetings, looking for HD cyl numbers info

    howdo, is there a place on here that would have data/info for identifying 50s,60s,70s HD cyls. if you could point it out to me i appreciate it. i have a old rat hole of cyls. id like to id to sell. thanks. gary

    They are all date coded on the base flange. Usually with a letter, number, number. Like C 14 53 which would be March 14th 1953. The letter i was not used.

      Short answer is no. Longer version is that there are physical differences besides casting and date codes along with the fact date codes in some models repeat, so pictures are needed to identify them. And that isn't in a book somewhere or a simple chart.

          Gary, the 'Harley-Davidson' for sale thread would be the best place. H-D cylinders do have unique characteristics and the people looking for the exact 'right' year are going to be very picky. I also happen to be looking for early Panhead cylinders but my requirement is that they be usable and I'm not that concerned about year codes, etc. If you have a pair of early cylinders that are still under the bore limit, I'd be very interested.
