  • Presto fire extinguisher

I have a Presto brass fire extinguisher. Its about 6 inches long. It's probably 50 or so years old. It is new, and still in the original box. It's wrapped in cellophane, and never been used. Any idea how long they hold a charge? Or is it just a wall hanger? Stan

It is likely dead, and no one seems able to service them. Don't fall for the scam ones with H-D or Indian decals on them. Never happened.

They contain Carbon Tetra-chloride which is a banned carcinogen. Don't let it get in contact with your skin or breathe the fumes.
