  • 59 Panhead Shock Studs

Started working on a 59 frame and have a question re: Shock Studs. I have a set of shocks with 1/2" bushings and have studs to accommodate, however, I see that the stock studs were 5/8 originally... is there a length difference as well?

    Thanks

There are several different lengths over the years depending in shock rubber bushings, crashbars or not, etc. If the bike is stock it matters, if a custom the important part is that the shocks are aligned top and bottom and not canted, and that they do not contact anything else.

Not all stock... Motor is stock with perfect line bore and VIN and the frame has all the right casting numbers etc. Going to be mostly stock but not restored. Thanks for the info.

Keep in mind also that there are studs for Sportsters and Superglides that also fit but are again different lengths. With 1/2" shocks you must be using modern shocks so the studs will all be late '70s and newer types.
