  • Indian Vertical 1949-1952 Upper Fork Bracket Repair

I have a general question for those of you who have restored upper or lower fork brackets for these models. Are the cracked brackets easy to repair or are they junk? How easy is it to weld repair if the cracks are not very extensive? I have one upper bracket with a slight crack in one area. I have another lower bracket with about four small cracks through which you can see daylight.

Certainly it can be welded. Of course the steel type would need determined but any "competent" welder could do that. They are cast. The lower brackets sometimes get cracked from driving a wedge a little too far into the spreader gap when attempting to remove the tube.
