Carbide, and bottled acetylene gas was most typically used for lighting. The big 3 factories began offering electric lights in the mid teens. The common names in gas lighting were Prest-olite for bottled acetylene, Hawthorn, Solar, 20th Century, Fidelity, etc. for headlights, and tail lights.
