  • 47 FL Nnuck basket case

    Hello,
I am working on a 47 FL Knucklehead basket case gifted to me by a friend who passed too soon.
He painted the tins & yeah they are not perfect but that was his vision.
Wish I knew how to attach pics.

It looks good! The oil tank looks to be a '38-'39.

      Hey Craig!
Thanks for the response .....what tipped you off it's not a 47 oil tank?
I do know the bike went through the chopper era then was returned to stock appearing ...neck deraked aftermarket front fender well you get the idea.
So it will be a challenge. I do know it was riden many miles with the parts I have.

Bobby; It's the top of the tank. The 1940-1964 tank has a recessed top. The 1936-1939 have what some people call the embossed top. Check Ebay for Knucklehead or Panhead oil tanks and you'll see the difference. As for the mileage. These old motors are very rebuildable. And the first thing we did when chopping these bikes was, get rid of the Dresser stuff. Now we are paying lots of $ for the speedos.
