Mick, i love how you are waking your bikes up, servicing everything that had taken them off the road. What is the needle bearing size/number and the sleeve it rolls on?

      Steve,
The inner bearing is a KOYO IR 1612. 1" ID, 1 1/4" OD, 3/4" width
      The outer is a INA SCE 202012. 1 1/4" ID, 1 1/2" OD, 3/4" width.

I tried to buy the outer with 2 rubber seals, but couldn't find them in the size I wanted.
One point, do your clutch hub thrust washer with an OEM roller bearing. When it is correct, install the new bearings.
I don't know how this bearing will stand up over time.
      Cheers,
      Mick

I was getting my 29 ready to start this afternoon.

Connected a remote fuel tank, turned on the fuel and had a nice stream of fuel spraying directly onto the coil.
I figured this is not right, so I checked out the carby.
The float level was very high, so I adjusted that, then filled up the bowl off the bike. Still overflowed, then noticed the float wasn't moving.

I always look at Cottons carby posts as he has a lot more experience with the old carbies than I do. I always was a bit dubious when he would state that some floats don't float. I should have trusted his experience as that is exactly what I found. A brand new float that doesn't float. How can people sell these?
        20190628_193304[1].jpg
It is a bit hard to see, but this is a horshoe shaped float.

My 29 had a good M1 on it when I got it. I changed it out for a reconditioned DLX 66, which may be correct for a 29JD.
I swapped out an old cork float and got the bike running for the first time in possibly 50 years. The Maine number plate has a label for 1967, so I assume it hasn't been on the road since then.
It won't idle properly yet, I at least need a new float.

Who is selling good floats these days?

Generator is charging nicely at 2-3 amps, converted to two brush. Oil pump is pumping.
I will check the tanks next week to see what condition they are in, then it should be ready for a road test.

I noticed that both tires were not fully seated on the rims, so another job I had to do.

At your service, right here Mick!

I'm curious; Was your new horseshoe molded?

A molded "elliptical" nitrophyll production is shown balanced by three of mine.

PS: You might save some postage if you can get one from Jim Parker

I fear I would need to see the bottom, Mick!

The tops of mine look like that, but beneath is machined foam.
I think I see a pivot nut, so its not like some of the heavy India productions where its molded-in.

If you pop out the pivotnut, the float should weigh in the neighborhood of three grams.

                      Cotton,
                      This is the bottom.
It looks molded to me, you can see the mold lines on it.

                        Well, Mick,..

If its only three grams you aughta try again.
Although the inferior grades of nitrophyll are doomed in USA fuels to swelling, Scheblers seem to have the clearance to accept it, and your fuels may not yet be P4gas.

                          Cotton,
I don't have a weight of the float.
The first picture I posted showed the float on the bottom of a canister full of gas.

Otherwise, my prices might go up with the trade wars...

The gas is clear, the plastic container is opaque.
I don't know Jim Parker. Do you have a contact for him.
                              Thanks
