  • Motorcycle Hill Climb

I just found in the parking lot an unused ticket to a Motorcycle Hill Climb event at Mann Hill Sunday, June 3, 1951. It's in great condition so surely it could not have been blowing around for 67 years!
Does anyone know anything about this event?WIN_20180319_16_56_35_Pro.jpg
I think I met some old man several years ago who used to race this kind of event. I think he had a 1929 45 that he raced. Anyone know him? Lived near Indianapolis.

    Wow Mike!

That beats my '66 Peoria TT tickets out of a dumpster.

Really? You found yours in a dumpster?
So what are the odds that a motorcycle guy like me finds something like this just laying next to my truck in the parking lot? It makes you wonder where it's been. In someone's collection and they just dropped it? In an old book and it just fell out? Under a bush? The condition is too nice for it being outside so that just can't be.

Did you look up-wind for a bin, Mike?

You may have missed a mother lode.

Mine came out of a "death pile"; Who needs an XR750 manual?

You were so right (not about the time machine). There are guys cleaning out an old building just up the block from where I work. The building used to be the original Harley Davidson dealership in Indianapolis in the early 1900s. The ticket obviously blew out of the 20yd roll-off dumpster out front. However, I'm just too chicken to dumpster dive.

That dumpster probably is a "Time Machine"... in a sense! Just have a PEEK over the side, you just never know!

"Diving" is either in your blood, or it ain't, Folks

And yes, it can be dangerous.

Yes of course, but I didn't mean it to be like Scrooge McDuck diving through all his money and coins. HAHA!!!

An old Indian,Ex,HD Iver, dealership owner locally died a few years ago.His darling daughters called a cleanup crew to clear his basement.Took a long, large dumpster. The gut that dumped it gave my buddy an NOS Iver Johnson hat that fell out.He said it was filled with Original literature, all disposed of properly!

Is your tetanus shot up-to-date, Mike?

                          Kevlar gloves are nice.

Just grin at passers-by like an insane chessy cat, and they will leave you alone.

                              And Mike!

A five-gallon plastic bucket makes for a quick boost up into a tall bin, with an attached string to then pull it up for your collection.

If you must make a quick getaway, its no great loss...
