  • 1956 Harley panhead frame

Does anyone know what type of paint or what coating was used on a 1956 panhead frame

Panhead frames were parkerized, then painted black.

        Shovelhead Stan!

I think the question we all have is: "What kind of paint"?

Nitrocellulose lacquer, oil based enamel, or....?

        ....Cotten
PS: Yes Folks, they all look different.
There may well be 'Fifty Shades' of "black".

Same paint as used on oil tank, tool box, primary chaincase, and other 'black-painted' parts.

Actually H-D listed Frame Black as a separate color.
