Especially since it is scoring so high as it is.

It could be conserved without much molestation.

The idea for the Chelsea Museum is to have a motorcycle that is a living experience. That means it should run reliably and be able to be ridden in special events. Of course, it will spend most of it's time on display in the Chelsea Museum, but we want it to be more than a static display.

To that end, we have been going through the bike over the winter, repairing problems, and researching where we can. Regarding the carburetor, we learned that some Flanders were built with a Breeze, but that the Breeze carb and manifold that were on the bike as received were not correct for the bike. The majority of the 1911 Flanders were built with a Schebler HX, so we were able to trade the Breeze and manifold for a correct Schebler and manifold.

One of the missing parts on the Schebler is the "air bend". From what we can tell of museum and auction photos, there are two types out there. Most likely, the correct part is a 90 degree bend similar to a Harley of that era. But we aren't sure because there are not many photos that you can see the carb clearly.

If anyone has pictures of the air bend (the air inlet on the bottom of the fuel bowl) that they think is correct for the Flanders, please post them. Better yet, if anyone knows were a Flanders air bend is available, let me know.

      Thanks.
