  • Gas tank Venting

I have a 46 Chief and after taking it for a fairly lengthy ride a couple of weeks ago I noticed that gasoline was seeping out of the weep hole above the float bowl. When I removed the gas tank lid I noticed that a significant pressure had built up in the tank. Is this normal? Are the tanks supposed to be vented?
    Thanks Chief46

Your gas caps should do the venting, something's wrong there...there should be no pressure. Maybe you can put up a picture here of your gas caps?

If you have replacement gas caps their pressure spring is too high, you have to dissemble innards to clip spring.Did the gas stop weeping after removing pressure.

I honestly don't know if it stopped weeping or not. I'm going to keep an eye on it. I did check both of my caps. I can suck in on the valve in the bottom of the cap very easily but can't blow out on either of them.
