  • 1941 741 Scout 1943 Scout?

So I am still trying to figure out a bike that I thought had matching numbers but turned out not to upon deliveryit's ok the price was right)

the Motor is GDA32592 and the frame 74134167

From the table this looks like a 1941 741 motor but a 1943 741 frame serial number range? seem right?

That's a pretty high numbered 741. I would guess frame and engine are from the same year, since they are fairly close in numbers. Maybe '43-44. As far as I know, there has not been any production numbers for specific years published. I wouldn't worry about non matching numbers.

741's carried the GDA motor suffix at least thru '43. 1943 #'s range from GDA32037 thru GDA35147. Your GDA32592 is a 741 made in '43. the matching frame would be 74132592. The Army 741 Operation and Maintenace guide qoutes these figures.

1941 741's also have several 41' only parts. These included a sport scout primary cover (with inspection port), Indian scripted horn (I am told after 1941 the Army wanted all branding removed), Linkert carb should be numbered M741 (later models are numbered M741-1). I believe there are differences between a 41 and 42-3 aluminum aircleaner elbow as well.

With having such a high number 32,592 I would suspect your bikes is a 1943.
