Walneck's latest issue had an article about the theft that stated the bikes were not insured.

That one threw me for a loop. Not sure of the cost of insuring bikes of that value, but it has to be way cheaper than eating the whole loss!

Being as it was in his house I would think it would be covered under his homeowners policy. The homes in Jeff's neighborhood are multi million dollar homes and located in a fire zone. I would guess they would have a lot of insurance on them.

I asked my insurance agent about that once. His comment was; a motorcycle shouldn't be in your house. Needless to say, we didn't see eye to eye on the concept of full coverage.

Motor vehicles whether running or not are NOT considered household goods and I am not aware of any company who would cover them in that instance. No matter if in a garage or under your bed!

My wife is an insurance claims adjuster with 25 years experience and still works for one of the majors. Not covered under homeowners!

Unless you can afford to lose the whole amount, it would be foolish not to have them insured, period.

Even if they were insured, the insurance companies will have you jumping thru hoops to collect!
