History of my KHK

How is it you are able to trace your Harley back to the factory? Is it just because the motorcycle has been in the family? I'd love to trace mine back but the guy who I bought it from could not even tell me who the guy he bought it from was.

The dealer that sold the bike to me told me that it had been owned by the same family since new. I had to give the original title to the IL Sec. of State when I got my new title; however, I kept a copy of the title I got with the bike. I do this with all my bikes that might have a history just to help figure out who owned them and when.
