hello ken in the harley shop dope book from 1917 to 1949 it says time all sport model motos for ignition when the piston is 3/8 to 7/16 inch before top dead center on the compression stroke.on the magneto models the front interrupter shoe times the front cylinder. i hope this will help you. joe j.
