'48 cases

Does anyone have any experience/feedback with regards to the reproduction chief cases on the market? A fellow club member who does not own a computer is in need of a set for his '48. Thanks johnny

Hi JWW:

Both Kiwi and Starklite offer repro cases. I've seen both, they look beautiful. I bought a set from Kiwi and had them assemble my lower end using my flywheels, cams, followers, etc. They took forever (10 weeks) and I got a $4000 bill, which I thought was steep. Kiwi's cases have the Kiwi logo cast in them, Starklite's don't. I went with the aftermarket cases for my '37 Chief because when I bought the bike, the motor was apart, and it had '39 cases that were in bad shape anyway.

rjames, thanks for the reply, fellow club member has purchased cases from kiwi. they look good (think he is removing kiwi logo) hopefully all will go well with assembly. johnny
