  • NO!NO! Mailing List?

Anybody else get a mailing from Bonhams & Butterfield? I got one today & I definately know it came from the membership list, as this was the ONLY place I listed my name in this manner.I thought they weren't allowed to do this?

I thought the club was going to share the members' mailing info with organizations that would send material strictly of interest to the members, which this is. I got one but it doesn't bother me. I don't mind any junk mail. It provides job security for the postman and I may eventually get enough to heat my home. Besides, I thought the pictures were real purdy.

        Bonham's

I got mine, but it was not addressed to me as I am listed on the AMCA roster, but in the company name as I am listed in Walnecks. Any chance you are a subsciber to Walnecks as I know they advertise heavily there so Buzz probably sold them his subsciption list. Also how about that horribly chromed out 36' Knuck they are going to Auction off, the only thing 36 on it is probably the cases and I would be suspect of them! Bill

          Yer. right, Bill!
Mine came addressed to moy business as well.

Notice how all of the vintage H-D's had the same chroming "errors"?

Every one of them has chrome spring forks, chrome footboards, chrome rear stand, etc.
Either they are all from the same owner, or the same aftermarket catalog at least!

No wonder the market on H-Ds is going soft.

I received a call from Mike Firzsimons of Butterfield. They purchased a mailing list, and he phoned to tell me that he suspected that the AMCA roster was used as part of the source, but he wasn't sure. He asked permission to use it, and I gave it, as they'd paid, on the agreement that he give us the name of the supplier of he addresses so we could write them a suitable "cease and desist" type snotty letter. Actually, there's not a whole lot we can do about it, and quite frankly I thought the members would enjoy Bonham & Butterfield's junk mail, as its pretty high quality stuff, and quite interesting. It may not have come from the AMCA roster anyway, but from Walneck's or almost anyone, as there's so much cross pollination in this great hobby of ours. If anyone doesn't want their name bandied about for whatever reason, you have the opportunity to opt out of the roster.

              Chrome errors!

Funny....Tom you are right! they all have the same bad chrome in the wrong spots! ...I mean they all have chrome front springer legs!!!!! That's funny! I agree with Pete, no harm done, it's not like you are getting 500 Penis enlargement emails a day!

                Thanks Pete for the response.

My biggest dig has go to be the way Yahoo hawks the mailing list. This my biggest source of Viagra and other junk mail. The miss spellings are designed to avoided being screen out. What a pain. I wish all my junk mail looked like the Bohnham & Butterfield Auction lit.

My guess is same owner on the HDs.
