  • ULH 80 Flathead Motor into Panhead Frame?

    I have a question.

My Pan motor lunched and I'm too lazy and broke to fix it. But I do have running 80 cubic inch Flathead motor just sitting. Can I just drop this 80 ULH into an Hydra-Glide frame? What else do I need to do or know?

I could throw a spring fork on it too...

It would be a b*astard, but fun...

    Motormount shim

    HJ!

Check out your parts book for a front motormount adapter shim that is about ~3/16' of an inch thick. (Sorry I don't have the OEM #; my books are at the shop...)

Although it might be commercially available, you would still be wise to cut your own from aluminum plate for accuracy.

      TC,

I see that shim part in there.

      What does it do exactly?

Have you seen an aluminum shim work okay?

What about the top motor mount?

It brings the motor up to level and square in a later frame is all.

An aluminum one worked fine for my '37 EL in a wishbone frame,... until a little blue-haired lady creamed me from behind.
