  • Harley single racer, or not?

I've seen a 1926 Harley single (B model) with short handlebars (gas welded after sections were cut out), magneto, standard tanks, wheels, front end, carb, short rear fender, no front fender, standard seat, no headlight. Is it a home-made racer, is it desirable as such, or would it be looked at as just a stock bike missing all the good stuff? It's a B motor.

Next to it was a 1926 B model, all stock, missing the tanks and fenders. If a guy wanted one to keep and restore, which would be more desired when the guy (me) needed to sell it when his 7 year old reaches college age?

Thanks for any tips or info...theses singles are new to me! I have been playing with 45's.

    Model B

The Model "B" Single was the sidevalve engine version. I don't think that one was used as a racer much if at all. It was the OHV model AA or BA that was used as the racer and nicknamed the Peashooter.

If it were me -- and these are the sidevalve "B" engine models -- I'd get the road model.
