  • Brake Light

I have a 1960 Duo Glide and just noticed that when I use the front brake the tail light does not come on. I then noticed that there is no wire from the front brake handle or brake drum to activate the rear tail light. Is this appropriate?

    Thanks,
    Jerry

    Jerry,
Yes there is no brake light switch connected to the front. With the 6 volt system a person can barely see the tail light anyway!!
    Happy trails.

      Doug,

Thanks for the information, I just wanted to make sure something was not missing.

        Jerry,
I believe they placed the front brake on the right handlebar so you could handsignal with your left hand when only using the front brake .
When I was a teenager for some reason we used to get a large charge by handsignaling a stop when your buddies were behind you so it was frequently performed. And to all the newbies taking thhir motorcycle license test we would always tell them to remember to handsignal, they could never be sure if they were being duped.
Just a few remberances of the old handsignaling days.
