    This may seem trivial, but I want to clarify some info in the palmer book. Regarding my '47FL. Is it true that the upper mounting bolts of the rear "safety"guard are assembled from the inside of the fender out, so that the final result is that you view the nuts and not the head bolts when complete? Thanks in advance.

    Yes, you're right. The bolts go through the
    fender from the inside and you end up with the nuts
    visible. If you have the correct bolts they have
    a special head to fit into the slot in the fender
    to keep them from turning (so you don't need to
    try and get wrench in there). A good shot of this
    assembled (albeit on a later panhead) is on page
    502 of Palmers ... Perry
