  • 45' Motor rebuild

I am looking for suggestion on where to get my 45' motor and transmission rebuilt on the east coast. My bike runs fine but leaks like a pig and I would like someone knowledgeable to tear it down and check everything out in the motor. I live in Delaware, but attend Oley and Harmony meets every year.

    Thanks for any information!

Sorry this isn't a reply on an answer to rebuild your engine, but, you should also go out to the Jefferson meet. Its just past York Pa. Probably as far for you as Harmony. I usually hit Oley, Harmony and Jefferson myself.

I am currently working on a '57 servicar basket case and can give
you the names of 2 people you could talk to about your engine
      rebuild.
The first and closest is William Hoover, who would works at the
Indian dealership in Dover, and was recommended to me by
a few HOG members. He is also director of the Delmarva chapter
      of AMCA.
The second is Todd Dross, who has a shop in Fredericksburg, VA and is assembling a rolling chassis (frame, engine, tranny, rear axle and forks) for me. His wesite is www.twinjugs.com.

          '45' rebuild

Hey Craig...I've not been on this board in quite a while...so I just now noticed your post...have you had any luck finding a resto-man yet?

I'm in West Chester, Pa...not too far from you...

          I'm having my 1940 '45' totally restored...it's almost done!
(Been a tad over a year, now...)

There is a gentleman in Honeybrook, Pa, who's doing my resto...He's excellent... but he's busy!
          ('specially with Daytona coming up...)

However, it's worth a shot if you have the time to wait for a meticulous job...

Email me if you'd like his name and number, OK?

          lellis48@worldnet.att.net

Good luck!...and lemme know how the resto's going...

            Flathead,

I have not found a rebuilder as of yet. I put this off during the Holidays. I hope to get started again after I pay off Christmas.

            Thanks!

Red Racing ( motorhead Tommy) in South Florida is the best. These guys have a full machine shop and very talented employees---not to mention they have been working on HD's only for many.many years.
