  • Early Harley Single

A friend tells me he just picked up an early Harley single set of engine cases. I haven't seen them yet or seen pictures but I am told the number begins with a 2 and ends with an L - 4 numbers and the letter L. I seem to recall a chart which would tell you the year but can't place it.
Can anyone give me some insight into the early singles ?? same or different frame as the twins ? any pictures ?
    as always,
    thanks

That chart is in the front of parts books of which you should have several by now.
I'll have to look to verify but I think that an L is either a 1915 or 16 single.

yes I have learned to always check the part book first but unfortunately don't have that one. i'll ask my buddy if he does but I suspect not. does anyone have one to sell ?? I've seen a few but not sure if Harley combines twin and single cylinder bikes early on. I know latter , they split them up.
      thanks

Twin frames of that era have larger loops in the frame. Gary
