  • Cherokee Chapter Spring swapmeet at Pate.

As we come to the last two weeks before Pate April 30 to May 3rd, We are now so big with Vendors and Bike Display we are now as big as the Swap meets in Florida in March. Not to mention we are just a small area in the Huge Mid West Pate Transportation Swap meet, in its 43rd year and is now the Largest in the USA.

With cooperation with many Vintage clubs and AMCA Members from all over the South, This is going to be the Biggest Tailgate Party, Chapter Meeting, and Three Ring Circus, The Cherokee Chapter has ever planned and pulled off. Bigger than the very successful National Road run last year. We expect over 2/3rds of our 200+ members to be part of this Mega Social event for Vintage Motorcycles and those that appreciate what we are doing. A few spaces still left in section 3 A. But Section 3 is totally sold out of Vendor spaces except for Bike Display area.

What is not to like about 10,000 Vendors on the Asphalt Reserve Parking lot next to the actual race track, Texas Motor Speedway. Parking for over 200,000 cars. See you there.

Well we can't deliver snow like Oley but Mother Nature is washing down the Vending Areas of Pate today, and we are told the weather from Wednesday thru the weekend will be dry and mid 70's. April Showers bring May flowers and Pate Swap Meet. We are down to our last 8 spots unsold, Next year we will reserve more. Shelby

The Cherokee Chapter can now look back on a very large event that went textbook perfect for a regional event. We are proving that a local Chapter can Plan, Organize, and Execute an Event for the Members and the General Public. We were able to display 135 high quality Motorcycles from 1903 to 1980 to thousands of people to enjoy.

Thanks to all our members, friends, and supporters who worked together so well. In our Board Meeting held at the event, it was approved to continue working with the Pate Association to grow our involvement for Pate 2016.

We may never have the absolutely perfect weather again, but it was a Blessing for the first year that 5 weeks of on and off Spring showers stopped for a week, Clear skies, cool nights, 70's for highs during the day and a gentle breeze the entire meet.

I am not sure of the final count of new Chapter members we added, but we had 19 join on one day. The Cherokee Chapter shows the strength of a large social group, that enjoys the benefits from common Goals of having fun with Antique Motorcycles and sharing with like minded people. Lots of people are learning AMCA members can be members of several chapters to support efforts like this. Clusters of friends are free to ride together in their local areas, socialize with local events without having to become a small Chapter, and the burdens of becoming a registered not for profit, with the associated officers and paperwork required. This approach is working in a large area surrounding Texas, and might not be the best path for all. Sharing Events with other Vintage and Antique groups only makes the AMCA better, in my opinion.

Please enjoy the pictures posted on www.cherokeeamca.org and CAIMAG forum. See you in 2016 at Pate.
