  • 1969 Sportster XLH Restoration

My Sporty is almost completed ready to show and ride. It is a 1968 not 1969 as stated in the title.

I purchased it last Spring from the original owner's family with 19K miles on the odometer and had it shipped to a shop in OH for a complete rebuild and restoration. It was restored and rebuilt back to original stock condition like the one delivered to me in 1968 by Kirby's Harley Davidson on Columbia, SC.

I found a set of NOS hard saddlebags which I will install when it is finished and delivered to Columbia. Attaching a few photos.56.jpg59.jpg61.jpg62.jpg64.jpg

Just curious why a 19,000 mile original needed restoration?

Nice looking bike! Welcome to the "H" club! Here is my 1969 XLH that I finished restoring last fall:

Nice! Unusual color; what was it called?

That color looks to be Sparkling Gold. I never saw many Sportsters dressers back then, they all seemed to be lean CH style.
