  • Excelsior manual

I need manuals for a 1916 Excelsior V-twin. Does anybody know where to find them or can someone make copies of the owners manual and a shop manual.

The AMCA virtual library has an operators manual for a series 20 Excelsior and that is as close as you will find. Excelsiors were fundamentally the same from '16-'24 (and '15 was very close). Is there something in particular you need to know?

I just acquired this 16 Ex and I don't really know much about it. It doesn't look to different from my 28 JD. But it is. I like having the info to look at on engine and transmission when I break it down.

There is no rebuild manual so take pictures, and notes as you take it apart. Both the motor, and transmission are quite simple and standard motor building techniques will serve you well. I rebuilt my '16 motor last year and it runs great. I did a build thread on it in the 'Member Bike Builds' category on this forum.
