41 Scout rear stand holder set up

Does anyone know the correct orientation of the rear stand holder(the metal arm) I see to have a bent one or instaled wrong as the stand won't stay up whiel riding and if I bend it tight I can't put it away without re-bending the arm?

not sure about the 741's, but that does not look anything like mine. On my SS, I tie a shoe string around it. Not right but, I have had it fall down when on the freeway at speed and by the time you git pulled over - you've lost a lot of metal. On my 25 I put a spring under the fender out of sight, it snap's it back in nice - again not correct, but works well :-)
