  • Oklahoma City Bike Show

Reaching out with a new thread on the mid Feburary, 15th and 16th, 2014 Bike Show and Swapmeet. Speaking to Jeff Williams the promoter of the meet, he welcomes the return of the Cherokee Chapter for 2014. There will be several changes planned but the main thing is we plan on beating our mark of 140 feet of Display, of which we won the best Group Display award last year.

I would like to encourage all Oklahoma area AMCA members to attend and to Join out fast growing Chapter in showing off to the public our private treasures we work so hard to build. Not Everyone can attend a far away AMCA National meet, so here is your chance to be part of an active chapter in Non-AMCA events in several areas. Gather up a few friends and make a road trip out of it, as we would like to see the Tulsa area people attend.

This display is open to choppers, bobbers, riders, original or restorations to show the diversity of our members. Last year a good time was had by all, from Friday set up to Sunday afternoon load-up. We will have more details posted as we get closer. Please contact Dwight Rinner or Shelby Withrow 940-748-2555 for the latest info and signup for our display. We need to know how much space required in advance contact info on www.cherokeeamca.org

The plans for the 2 day Bike Show Display at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds are well underway. There is a growing number of Central Texas members planning on showing their Antique Motorcycles. For those with extra trailer space let us know if you can help other Members without trailers show their bikes. All the details are on the website, and the contact information for our Oklahoma Board Member Dwight Rinner. Pre register your bike for the best deal. Embassy Suites on Meridian was the choice for most members last year.
We will gather Friday the 14th of Feburary, in the afternoon to set up display.

This will be a huge turnout for our Chapter to kick off the new year. Watch for Dwight to post more details as we get closer. Shelby, Membership and Events Director

All we need now is a break in the weather, a good number of Motorcycles coming from Central and North Texas, will meet up with the Oklahoma members to put on quite a show again this year. We invite people from surrounding areas to join us at the 2 day event as we are showcasing a wide number of different brands. www.cherokeeamca.org.

I-35 has been closed several times this winter due to ice, let us hope that we will get a break and have clear roads. Shelby

We are getting our act together this year, we have 220 feet of display area set aside for us and we are going to fill it with all brands of Vintage and Antique motorcycles. We will have an awesome set-up with a Cannonball exhibit, portable machine shop trailer, Cannonball bikes from the past two cross country rallies, as well as many of this years entries, Texas will field about 10 riders, along with support team, in the 4150 mile trip from Daytona Beach Florida to Tacoma Washington in 17 days.

The Cherokee Chapter invites all enthusiasts to come out and visit with us, and see what we are all about. This is a family oriented AMCA Chapter who enjoy the old motorcycles and the people that own them, www.cherokeeamca.org for details on us. Shelby

I am proud to report that we not only filled the 220 feet of space we had to get 30 more for a total of 250 feet with motorcycles from 1908 up, a wide selection of Brands and Models any Chapter would be envious of. I had counted 43 bikes at one point but a few more came in.

Thanks to our President, Steve Klein's leadership, we had 6 of 7 Directors or officers in attendance, Many travelling up to 8 hours to try to double our efforts last year in size, selection, and Quality. For the Second year in a row we Won the Best Group Display, along with 22 or 24 individual trophies, more than double last year.

The Cannonball display was great with the Carson Classic Motors Cannonball team exhibit drew a lot of attention, and a special thanks to Mike Bell for bringing in his past and future ride, riders Scott Byrd, Jon Neuman, Greg McFarland, Mike and Buck Carson were on hand to work the crowd and showing their Motorcycles and the portable Machine shop Trailer that will be put to good use by the support crew to keep the riders ready for the next day.

Another special thanks to Dwight Rinner and Lyle Henry for working with other clubs that was set up across from us, some of whom are now new members, I will let Dwight report from Okla. as he is our director of the Okla. area.

Thanks to each member that came , helped, and enjoyed our Social Event, Next stop is Florida and then Kerrville Road Run, busy spring.
come join the fun. Photos are being uploaded over next few days at www.cherokeeamca.org Shelby, Membership and Events Director
