  • Fender badges

I have a 55 KHK , that I've pieced together since 1979 . It was a sad looking chopper when I bought it , with a ten over front end and no rake . What's wrong with people. The good thing is the frame was cherry . Anyway I see on eBay all these 55 KH front fender badges . Is there anyway of telling if they are fakes . I know about the fox on the back but I've seen fake 50 year anniversary badges with fox on the back . Also am I looking for a 55 KH front fender emblem ( badge ) or did they make them with KHK on them . Thanks guys . One other thing how long was fox manufacturing used and our they still in business .

The badge only ever said KH, no KHK badge exists. The ones on eBay are pretty much all repops and have been for years, however they aren't bad. The original '55 emblems were all chrome plated with the plating just being sort of a flash over the polished brass. The modern repops are way too shiney. The pictures show the original badge off my 55KHK. On the backside the chrome is still visible.

They are stamped. There is nothing wrong with a correct reproduction. Just make sure you pay reproduction price and not original price.

Manufacturing companies are forced to pay "Inventory Tax" on their tooling. If something is not going to be used again it is scrapped.

Rub you've given me much good information but I have found two pieces of information from the Harley Davidson motor company that says two badges were made for the KH series the KH and the KHK neither piece had a picture of either, but you seem like a person who would not knowingly give out false info so let's see if we can't get some pictures to verify this new piece of information

My badge was the original on my '55 KHK three owner bike. And in over 40 years I have never seen a KHK badge. But then I'm not Harley -Davidson.
