  • Tillotson carb

To those of you that own an early shovel and are running a Tillotson, where can I buy a quality accelerator pump assy.? I purchased 2 rebuild kits from Tedd's and are of very poor quality. The leather cup was cut off center and out of round, the material seems to be thicker than stock, the spring under the leather cup is larger than original, and the main spring is longer but weaker than stock, and the rubber boot is short and won't seal. I could not even get it into the bore. After owning this bike for over 20 years I am trying to put the stock carb back on it, so I am working with several carbs that I have acquired. The rebuild is going good except for the pump. I have soaked an original with a 'good' leather cup in light oil, then marvel but it will not work up and down in the bore smoothly. Has anyone had the same problems and are there solutions? I am not opposed to making my own leather cup, but before I go down this path I am asking if there is an alternative source for a good pump? I would like to be able to get one with the correct springs, leather cup, and rubber boot without piecing one together. Any helpful direction is appreciated.
