I like Kiwi Mike and I'm sure he makes a great motor but I have to believe you could find, and rebuild a genuine motor for a comparable amount of money. Kiwi Mike could even have a genuine '48 motor. I think Kiwi motors have a good market in custom bikes but I think it would be a bit weird to put one in a genuine chassis.

Hey thanks for the options. i would think a lot guys like to keep it original for value or for old time sake. but a crate motor in a indian chief sounds pretty cool .what do you think ? any one tried it!!!! M.C.

I think it is a good engine, but no better than a Genuine Indian Engine. You could find a complete Powerplant and rebuild it, for less, and have more. A REAL Indian Motocycle.

Mikes new engines will fit in an original frame with no problems as they are designed after the original.

Have ridden next to Mike on runs, those new motors are the best new Indian engines I have seen. They will really go and keep going, I have not heard of any troubles, I know I have not seen any. Their 84 cu inches I think, put that four speed in there and you have one hell of a road machine. I am really impressed with those motors, sure wish the new Indian company would of used them instead - but having said that. They are not real Indian and thats the way I would go, if it's your only Indian. Experience the real deal for they are a great machine from the past, enjoy them for what they are. The stock units will run strong all day to and are dependable, just maybe not quite as fast as the new ones. Good luck and have fun.
