  • January 1, 2011 - 1976 and older bikes are now AMCA Legal!

When the calendar page turned to 1/1/2011 .... bikes built in 1976 and before became AMCA "legal".

The late 70's saw many, many multiple cylinder Japanese bikes make it to the US with
the six cylinder CBX and Kawasaki's not far behind.

This opens new challenges for the AMCA ..... from finding qualified judges who recognize the
differences in the 13 versions of the Honda 750 model alone .... to every nut and bolt on several
hundreds of Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki models that are now allowed to pull
up for judging. Not to mention Ducati's, Bultaco's, Ossa's, etc.

It would be fun to watch the first Suzuki Rotary or third year Marusho pull uo for AMCA Judging
because the late 70's was the era of raw power coming from Japan and Europe..

Along with judging, how do they handle an AMCA road ride with Kawasaki Z1's, that hit
50mph in first gear, trying to participate with the much older 30 mph bikes ...... that were really bicycles
    with a small engine attached?

Every year, the imports are pouring more and more models into the AMCA pool .... hopefully
    they are ready for them.
Working...
