want to put a side car on my 69 flh found a 1980 for 4500 buks seems to be a good price complete car with mounts i think it is the same except mag wheel and disc brake want to know if it will mount up and if it is the same as a 69 as far as the tub and hook ups or dose any know where there is a 69 side hak forsale is

It should bolt on using the correct 1980 mounts. '69 rear mount was on the round swing arm. The '80 had a rectangular block welded on the frame. You can easily weld the block on your '69 frame and use the 1980 mounts. You will also have to replace your 1969 rear brake master cylinder with the 41761-78 type so the disc brakes will release properly.

can i use the 69 mounts with the the 80 side care and im gonna put a lace wheel with a drum brake do i need to change the master cylinder for the drum

In 1969 the sidecar frame was different than the 1980-style shown. The 1969 sidecar still attached to the trailing end of the swinging arm, near the rear axle, with a different, clamping, rear mount. You were given the advice and a diagram of how to attach a 1980 sidecar to a 1980 Harley, with these adaptions for a 1969 motorcycle:
You will have to weld one steel block to your bike's frame, the one with two holes in it (part #13 in the diagram above). Do you have the part that parts #1A and 1B go through? That block (also part of #13), is the rear sidecar mount, and has the female end of the rear ball joint attached to it. If you don't have it or if you can't find it, it can be made. The female ball joint part is also available (if even adapting the threaded part of a rear mount back to 1930), and a machinist could look at that diagram and make you that part.

Now, the front lower and front upper sidecar mounts are the same, 1969 or 1980, if that's what you ask. ALL of the parts attached to part #16 (#'s 1,2,5,12,14,15,17 & 18), above, and the spl. nuts and washers around part #19 (#'s 4,7,8 & 20) go all the way back to 1936, and are usually available on Ebay. The two frame clamps, #'s 21 and 22, are left and right, and mirrors of each other. You may find the whole lower mount kit, or the whole sidecar mounting set on Ebay.

You just need to put a "tee" in the rear brake hydraulic line to attach the sidecar brake line, and bleed the new system when you attach it. There are also original Harley-Davidson sidecar manuals on Ebay (search Ebay Motors under "sidecar") that describe the Harley parts. The H-D sidecars had hydraulic drum brakes from 1958 through, I believe, 1977.
