  • 47chief horn mounting

If I want to mount a horn on my 47chief without a crash bar, what type of mount is used, and where is it attached? Thanks Stan

Bob My crash bar is not in such good shape. I don't really like the crash bar looks. Stan

The only mount I know of is the one from the highway bar (legal definition of a crash bar, since it does not imply any protection from a crash!).

If you don't want to use a highway bar, the best alternative is to fabricate a mount to hold the horn from where the two bolts mount the coil.

          horn

two other choices, when I built my Chief back in 1972, I hated the crash bar also. Anthony's Chief had the horn mounted to the top fork spring huts, like a running light/windshield mount, so I made one too. But that was an Indian face horn we wanted to show off! Look at a 52-53 Chief mount also, they have a bracket under the steering dampner pin.

            Hi Stan,
Have you ever dropped a bike without a front saftey bar? They're a life saver for me.....John
