topper info wanted

[aka HAWG]

just picked up a h-d topper. engine number 60 U XXXX

told it was a 1960 - is this true

looking for anyone with a topper of this year for photo's . need to see whats where under all the covers.

also need parts if anyone can help - list to follow

Should be stamped 60A or 60AU if 1960 model. That was first year. 165cc two stroke. AU had carb restricted for 5 HP licening. 1961 went to AH with higher compression. 1965 was last year .

are those prototype pictures or did they not have passenger foot pegs on the early ones

I believe the passenger pegs were a kit added after the sale of the bike.

An engine from a H-D golf cart will bolt into the Topper. Plus it has electric start.
