  • JD gearbox Paint ?

    should a 1928 jd gearbox be painted..? and what things should be nickel

    There are a lot of great JD people and contacts there. Mark Masa would be your best bet to get the correct answer and he is on the harleyjd forum.

      The cast iron cover and lid are painted. The aluminum is bare. There are no nickel plated parts on the transmission.
      The handlebar spirals, ignition and light switch levers, speedometer bezel, fork caps, gas and oil caps, shift gate, front brake lever, upper head cone on fork, and the oil pump plunger are about the only bright nickel plated parts. Oil and gas lines, petcocks and other small parts have a dull nickle wash.

        but how about the kickstarter..?
        is the cast iron painted green and also the lid ?
