Will a model 58 Gen. work in place of my model 61 Gen. while it is out for a rebuild on my 61 FL??? What is the difference in the two? Thanks, Lloyd

Yes it's a bolt in replacement. The difference is in the commutator end casting and the armature. The model 58 uses a bushing to support the commutator end of the armature (and has an external flip up oiler). The model 61 uses a needle bearing here rather than a bushing. The armature changed to match the id of the needle bearing ... Perry
