  • Panhead valve oilers.

Panhead intake valve oilers part 18100-49 and 18102-49. Since these sport a 49 at the end where they used on the 48 engine? Bob

The parts manual states 49-65. They were not used until 1949 but that does not mean you can't use them on a '48. Did you ever find that XL clutch hub Bob?

Dan that wasn't me. I think it was Bill Pedalino with the hub. Thanks and I'm going to run the oilers on the 48.

Robert, If your looking to do your 48 motor just like the factory did inside and out you should read Shop Dopes # 262, 263, 269, 278 & 278A. All of witch can be found in shope dope vol III published by Antique Cycle Supply. Their 48-57 service manual contains alot of the same info plus info on proper set up of the mentioned valve oilers. I remember reading somewhere that valve oilers that are to be re-used should not be cleaned as this would lead to over oiling. Don't know how true that is though.
