  • Forum Title Suggestion: "Sportster and K Models"

    I have recently become very interested in Harley's K/KH Model (1952-56). I know they are technically a flathead but since the Sportster "growed" out of the K with the simple addition of OHV heads and jugs can't we add "and K Models" to the title of the Sportster forum?

    Pity this poor retarded orphan of the Harley-Davidson world and give the K models a home please!

        I always felt that the k models were actually the first sportsters because of the unitized construction of the engine to the tranny,despite still retaining the flathead. many parts were interchangeable on the early years. as much as we loved those flatties the engine had to get ohv to obtain the power to keep up with the compitition. If you ever get the chance to ride a k you can feel the sportster heart in the machine. it wanted to run and run hard. even if they dont change the name of this forum, any k is always welcome here and to ride along my 68.

          I'd agree with the K-model addition as well. Once an owner of both Sportster and K's, I have a deep appreciation for both. Everytime someone brings up the K line though, I remember very clearly, the power my two 55 KHK's had. WOW !!!!!! Paps

            I have seen guys with bikes that share one Pan cylinder and head with a Knuck cylinder and head. How come I never see one with one Sporty and the other K?

              would'nt the carb \ manifold be a little difficult? not to mention having two different compressions. the pan/knuck I did many years ago used 2 pan cylinders.
