  • 65 FLH Clutch Hub Key Removal

It's stuck. The shaft looks good, and the key looks good, but it does not move when I tap on it. Does not seem to be any corrosion, at least on the outside. I have tried a brass hammer/drift, and penetrating oil. Does anyone know if it is half-moon or rectangular shaped? Any ideas on removing it would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Gary

Gary... Are you saying you have been able to remove the hub, but the key won't come off shaft..?
Or are you having trouble removing the hub from the shaft..?

The key is half-moon shaped. Do you need to remove it? Usually, tapping on the inner end [toward trans] and the the outer end, [towards primary cover] will loosen it.

The hub is off. I want to remove the bearing that is sitting between the key and the the transmission housing. This is the bearing that fits in the inner primary cover. Now that I know it's moon shaped, I'll try a little more force.

        Thanks for your help!

A little more force worked. It was in, pretty tight.
