  • Indian Aluminum Tanks

Can Anybody refresh my memory. What year and what models used the aluminum fuel tanks.

    Was it 1936 Chief only?
I only say that, because that's what my memory serves me.
Were the aluminum tanks the only tanks availiable on whatever year and model it was?

    Aluminum Tanks

I see this did not get any replys yet. The reason I posted this is that some time ago I had a Tank, only one that was aluminum and I believe it was 1935-1936 Chief. I matched it to another tank.
I don't know where that aluminum tank came from, and I do not have it now.
Did anybody ever see this before?

I'm not possitive but I thought the aluminum tanks wher on the 31'-32' chiefs. Not sure about that so don't quote me on it.

If I remember correctly 1930 was the year of the switch to cast aluminum on the Chiefs. They went back to steel in '31....... I would have to dig out the books and do some reading to confirm this however...........

Cast aluminium tanks were also used on 1929 Excelsior (Big X) and CAC H-D racers 33-34. Most foundries no longer know how to cast such beautiful things.
