  • Piston Ring Compressors

Getting ready to put the jugs on my '52 Chief and I just wondered who makes a decent piston ring compressor at a reasonable price for a one time job.

Napa caries a variety of descent ones. If one time is all you need, a pair of the proper sized hose clamps will do the job right, if used and done carefully. Paps

You can get the corrugated version with the adjustable tension plastic lever for less than 10.00. Or you can get the complete pro grade kit with a full range of clamps and a locking pliers type holder for about 30.00. If you use the latter, be sure the arrow on the ring is pointed down as it is tapered and was designed for auto use, where the piston is being slid into the block bottom first, as opposed to sliding a cylinder on and removing the clamp at the bottom of the piston.
