  • Bench 12v DC power supply

What power supply can be used as a 12v battery substitue at the workbench while getting a motorcycle rebuilt and tuned up? I'm sure shops and garages have something in place...

A battery recharger with the switch placed on activate or the highest current allowable. Or a car battery.

Be aware of the high output AC from the coil. 6V from coil something like 10-12oooV. 12V from coil 35-40oooV. A real shocker.

      12v power supply

I'd thought of the car battery but would prefer a plug-in device that could be used over again for various projects. My charger is "smart" and the IC will not operate without an actual battery being connected, or so it seems.

Go to a pawn shop or garage sale and pick up a used battery charger.

I've picked up a power inverter from radio shack years ago which will let you hook up a car radio or cb radio in your house that converts 110 ac to 12 volts dc. I have used this in the past when batteries were dead and was doing a tune up

Oops...forgot to ask what amperage/wattage the thing should output...
