Electrical Problems With Wl

STARTED UP MY BIKE, HEADLIGHTS GOT SUPER BRIGHT WITH THORTTLE, ENOUGH TO BLOW OUT A BULB. SHORT FEEDBACK TO THE POS. PUT ON A NEW RELAY, SAME THING. PUT NEW HARNESS, SAME THING, DAMMIT, WHATS THE DEAL? IF I DISCONNECT THE POWER LEAD TO THE RELAY, THE SHORT QUITS, COULD I POSSIBLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD HAVE A BAD NEW RELAY OR WHAT? WENT BY ALL THE SCHEMATICS, NEALY POSITIVE I AM NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG, HELP HELP HELP, ALSO PUT ON A NEW IGNITION SWITCH, AND LEFT ALL LIGHTS UNHOOKED, EVERYTHING BUT GEN./ COIL/ SWITCH AND RELAY:248-343-4686 OLDVTWIN1@AOL.COM

Hi Jeff how are ya. All the relay does is prevent the battery voltage from returning back to the generator when the ign. switch is turned off. It is not a regulator. Is this a 32E gen? I take it is. Did you back off the 3rd brush to cut down the voltage coming out of the generator, which is energized when you turn the ign. switch to the light on position?
