  • 59 tank badges

I am in the process of tearing down my 59 Panhead for work and am going to get it back to original color skyline blue/birch white. My question is, I have 2 sets of original badges; one set appears to have been stripped and buffed and are plain chrome, and the other set has remnants of red around the arrow, but the letters are black. I have seen them in many photos as having red everywhere, including the lettering. Which is correct? Did it matter what the overaLL bike color was, or was there only one color scheme for the year?

And does anyone have a color code or insight into the red to be used?

Thanks for any help you can lend.
